I don’t think so. If the app is doing something useful it will stay. If it provides just a wallpaper, a static PDF to read (think of user manual apps) it will be removed.

The first Android phones were really exciting. I got a Samsung Galaxy (no numbers, no letters, just Galaxy) in 2009. AMOLED screen - the first Android experience for me. Unfortunately Samsung dropped the update support really soon - which got me into custom ROMs - another exciting thing…
I always buy a new phone and a new case and after some years I ditch the case because it wouldn’t hurt to buy a replacement and it feels like a new slimmer version of my trusted phone…
I don’t need the audio jack, but I guess it doesn’t hurt. There are phones that have all that, but unfortunately they are at most mid-range phones which isn’t what I’m looking for.
The code probably checks if the following number is greater than 10 (which fails for NaN) and otherwise adds a 0 in front.
I bought some USB-C dongles when I switched, but I only used them once in several years to connect my phone to a rental car which had no Bluetooth audio.
We were really trying hard, but there were no Android devices with FireWire 400 port available so we couldn’t connect to our developer team’s hardware…
I think in general you can expect popular phones to have a higher chance of getting custom ROM support. The Google Pixel range would be a safe bet. Most custom ROMs maintain a list with devices they are supporting or planning to support, but as far as I know there is no site combining these information.
And I still try to figure out how to enable it. I just want to try it out so I can decide whether I like it or not, but so far it hasn’t shown up for me…
The color choices are interesting. White or three different kinds of black (okay one is a greenish black)…
You just have to tweak the prompt a little bit…
To be fair: The internet you grew up on was quite different to the internet we have today.
But nonetheless: I think every generation (at least in modern times) has its own thing nobody else has experienced before, so most likely they will turn out okay…
Have you considered moving to an EU member state? 😉
Just think about it. Let’s assume that 1% of users will do the same and choose another device on their next purchase. That means that the profit loss Apple has to expect is less than the profit loss for losing their app store monopoly. For Apple this is a somewhat simple business calculation and it shows how much more profit they earn from app store purchases than from hardware sales.
That way Firefox has to submit a different app for Europe, splitting its userbase and making it more complicated for developers. They are pulling every trick they can…
Before we had Google, we had Altavista and before that we had indexes like Yahoo. Maybe we should consider going back. With the help of AI (I know…) it seems feasible to keep up with the ever growing content.
That is a funny idea. I will totally do this the next time I am using a support ticketing system.
But most humans responding there have no clue how to write Python…
I feel like you’re all making these names up…but they were probably suggested by a LLM all together…
Someone complaining that Google chose “privacy over functionality” was not on my bingo card…
