Of course its a hype right now. But at the same time AI improved my daily working live in the past year so much! I can outsource a lot of annoying tasks to AI and focus on the more creative tasks and everything strategic.

Germany is world class in producing production facilities and Kuka has been one of the most successful companies. These robots you see assembling cars? There has been a time where they were almost all manufactured by Kuka – a german so called ‘Mittelstand’ company. From 2016 to 2021 Midea – a Chinese company bought Kuka and ultimately decided to make them privately owned again instead of publicly traded. Relatively shortly after this, all patents where transferred to China and a lot of European Companies decided to ditch Kuka due to their strategic dependency and fear of technology theft of China. Since then, the EU has decided to block a lot more sales of European companies of strategic importance to China – especially since its not an even playing field, due to European companies not being allowed to buy Chinese companies in the same way.

Thats simply incorrect. For example ‘Deutschlandfunk Der Tag’ did a long series (~5 hours) about the impact of the war on Palestinians living under Hamas occupation during the war and their feelings towards Israel. They even did a Meta-report ‘How much attention does the dying in Gaza get in german media’ where they interviewed Salma Abuzaina, a Palestine activist in germany.

Maybe you just don’t consume public funded media if you haven’t heard any report about it. The conflict between reporting on Palestinian deaths and Isreali deaths without negating the suffering of any of the parties is a huge topic in german media.

Thats not the definition of a genocide… Germany killed 1 % of the french population in WW2 and its wasn’t a genocide.

A genocide is characterized by the intention to annihilate a people. And while the far right in Israel is voicing support for a genocide, the current offensive is definitely not a genocide. This doesn’t mean that its not against international law or just. But it simply doesnt fit the definition of a genocide – no matter how often you call it that way.

Even if you are starting out thousands streams is nothing. I have a few friends who have a band. Its really small, basically everyone who listens to them knows them personally. They have 20 monthly listeners, but almost all of their songs on their own have 1.000 yearly streams – because Spotify puts them randomly into their automatically generated playlists.

Meanwhile kicking all the ‘bands’ out with less than 1000 streams allows them to pay the rest more.

Germany uses Whatsapp and Signal. Whatsapp for the older generation, Signal for the younger ones. But almost everyone has both. Telegram is a niche messenger for conspiracy theorists and alt-righters, because it’s russian and those people love Russia.

And the question should be if digital markets and platforms should take 30 % or not. Because every platform does so from Steam to Apple App Store to Spotify.

Besides that Spotify offers more than Steam imho. Playlist creation, discovery algorithms, individualized playlist generation, AI DJs and if you consider Steam to also be a social platform, Spotify is too.

This is solely to kick out the AI generated music, which is already taking a significant share of the payout from the musicians.

This change is not against smaller artists, but for them.

So the only reasonable take is, that we don’t pay enough for consuming music, right? Because you have no label taking a cut and streaming services are not profitable themselves.
