Now I’ve only had to use Twitter sparingly since Musk took it over, but before he took it over I wasn’t getting harassed or death threats from randoms for merely posting a picture. Site is beyond disgusting and disrepair at this point. Nazi content is also getting pushed to the fore. Something is definitely up since he took over and fucked with the algorithm and other things.

Better real time engagement. Think of it like your own personal news ticker or curated radio station with updates. I used it to get updates from sporting events when I didn’t necessarily have access to a radio/tv and couldn’t watch/ listen to a game, etc. because I was indisposed, at a function, movie, etc.I had a whole host of journalists, personalities, and people that would basically/ practically give me play by play and keep me informed of what was going on. It was actually truly great. Twitter isn’t even close to what it once was.

Edit: wanted to add that you could think of Facebook as the modern rolodex at the time, still actually, while Twitter is/was more suitable for more real time engagement. Reddit sort of became the substitute for that up until they disastrously decided to shut down 3rd party apps. Now the site/subreddits are getting garbage content and it’s a ghost town. Most subreddits I was on are barely getting anything orany posts anymore. Lemmy is definitely filling the void. I mean, at least it has usable apps.

Even the porn is leaving. Multiple porn users/ accounts have stopped posting as well. I have an alt on Twitter just for porn and that has begun to dry up. You can see when the last time they logged on/ tweeted and it’s been weeks. It really isn’t hard to see that Twitter is a sinking ship.

They have too many garbage shows and too much shitty content. There are way more things I hated than I can say I liked. Secret invasion, book of boba fett, obi wan - all terrible, etc.

I’ve seen weekend at Bernie’s. She’s a glorified sock puppet. I’m amazed they even let her out to speak.

Learning to rely on Google as little as possible years ago was the best thing that ever happened to me. I learned this lesson/ came to this conclusion after they got rid of Google reader and even home page/ start page. Google reader was the best (still to this day) rss reader ever made. I still haven’t found anything that matches how I had mine set up and its functionality/ usefulness.

Not really. They fucked up their business contracts/ reputations and there’s still a massive push to leave them in dust/ past. There’s no undoing how massively they fucked up.

I don’t know. Twitter running rampant as a nazi platform and safe harbor under Elon’s tenure/stewardship has been something else. That platform was always a mess/ bad but not to the degree Elon has cranked it up to. It’s full blown mania/ hysteria on that platform.

Edit: I miss the days of Twitter when I could’ve used it as my own personal news ticker/ use it to follow sports and my favorite sports reporters. It’s shocking but there are actual uses and use cases for Twitter. It used to not be social media trash.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many wish to devalue the companies at the same time. Let’s not forget about robinhood also. I can’t wait until reddit IPOs to short the shit out of it. You have to know their valuation is a farce and bullshit. The numbers are totally cooked there.

Convoluted and a mess of a movie. Felt super disconnected from the characters. Amazing world, special and visual effects. Wanted more of that. An absolute treat for the eyes and imagination but just that everything else was generic, lackluster, disappointing, nonsensical, not properly explained or the movie just jumps around willy Nilly and can be confusing to say the least. I really wanted to like it because I love sci fi and we don’t get enough of this sort of thing, but the end result isn’t greater than the sum of its parts. Perhaps a director’s cut is required/ necessary, as it really seemed like good chunks of the movie were missing.
