I run a Hackintosh’s dual booting Mac OS and Windows. So you solution is not insane as some have pointed out.
What I would suggest is maybe running a NAS on your local network to act as your share. Obviously this won’t help if you dont store your working files on your NAS, but its an idea. I know no way to directly share between the two machines as they are technically not on at the same time.
Excellent example! Very rarely do you see a individual just shoot out from behind you in a line and by pass a whole queue of people.
Where as in a car you see people mounting a curb/sidewalk to make a right turn to squeeze past the individual in front of them. Or driving into oncoming traffic to get to the left hand turn lane a few seconds sooner. Or my favourite, seeing people stuck in highway traffic choose to off road to leave the highway, as opposed to waiting for the offramp. Meanwhile a crowed of individuals follows causing a unsafe situation for everyone.

I would really like to live in a town/city that does not have this issue. North America really needs to reassess its roadways and infrastructure.
The path to safe infrastructure is usually not just “remove all barriers” but instead “control the flow of traffic”.
On another note all new homes and buildings no longer need fire alarms or sprinklers as deaths related to fire have gone down.
Buildings are not burning down as much as they once did. So no need to spend money and time on fire safety and protection equipment. /s

Yup, Germany is way ahead in public infrastructure compared againt North America in general.
I especially love how simple things like parking in front of and Aldi looks and feels completely different from road infrastructure. We just love our concrete and asphalt for everything.

I wonder whatever happened regarding the Loblows boycott. It seemed to have fizzled out.
Yup its the only suburban neighbourhood in north America that is completly car free.
Trouble is zoning laws in Ontario and anywhere else in north America prevent cities from building more neighbourhoods like this.
Examples include things like minimum parking requirements, minimum setback, fire codes and even policing all play a part in shaping this. If you ever look at new suburban developments, think how hard its to get a convenience store or small supermarket build right inside the suburb.
Its a shame because we really should not be building suburbs with the same two or three single family homes repeated over and over, its really inefficient. We should start having townhomes, fourplexes, small 4-5 level mixed use condos, subways and trams with busways incorporated. Existing suburban layouts should also start adding missing middle housing inside whereever possible by changing zoning.
“Pedestrian streets” are not really “new”, it’s just something that we as North Americans have forgotten about.
We see large Walmart parking lots as normal and 6 lane “strodes” as nothing weird in cities and suburbs.
Soon we will all be plastic. Its already in our food and water.
What i really think about is these are only the effects so far from the plastics that have started to break down from when plastics were created (smaller quantities). What happens when the plastics of today start to break down (larger quantities).
Kind of like the effects of oil (air pollution) being felt 30-50 years down the line.
Your right, its sad because its true.
But when people walk across a pedestrian bridge society profits. Healthier population both physically and mentally. Greater happiness and less stress. Less pollution, pretty much all these benefits put less “burden” on peoples pockets financially, either both directly and indirectly through taxs.
Unfortunately probably all hard to quantify though.
Its a shame when projects like these are cancelled. It really shows how “car centric” North America can be in that a simple pedestrian bridge is harder to build and costs more then one designed for cars.
In a time when we should really be shifting to a more “pedestrian focused” design and “livable cities” in general, project like these are in the correct direction.
Condos need to be built for families, give me more three or four bedrooms in the city, and make it more affordable.
Condo developers can’t build these affordable three or four bedrooms though, because on average these layouts are about 20% larger in size to their comparable European unit layout. This is all to due to building code, and something called “point access layout” vs “common corridor layout”.
If we could get more families in the city buy making costs comparable in sq/ft to a single family home in the suburb we could make cities more enjoyable and give people a better sense of belonging, as opposed to just commuting in for a few hours.
A little anecdotal, but I personally try and go outside every or every other Sunday at minimum to pickup litter around my local trails.
What I find is the only people that say thank you verbally are stereotypical Canadians, or Canadians that seem to be second generation at the least in my eyes.
Everyone else that does not fit this stereotype seems to have a weird look on their face that almost mirrors a look of disgust or hate. Its very confusing TBH. What’s also quite interesting is that when people do stop and have a conversation with me the first question always is, “are you doing community service, or do you work for the city”.
My answer is usually the same, “no, I am just out for a walk enjoying the trail”. There seems to be a stigma that picking up garbage makes you less and not more.
To add, I’m not picking up litter for strangers, I’m picking it up for myself. I enjoy going for a walk on clean trail, and we both know if you don’t do something yourself no one will do it for you.
No worries, VMware or some of the other virtualization software’s should work in this case as most other comments pointed out. Probably the most simple and straight to the point.
If you have the urge to tinker, another potential item or route you can look at is a proxmox machine. You can run multiple VMs in tandem at the same time. This would run on a standalone machine.
You would then be able to remote desktop into any virtualized OS on your home network. You can use a software like parsec which I like to access each machine from a clean interface.
