It goes back to province and then where? If it benefits everyone, say upgrade the library to be more energy efficient, provide rebates if you upgrade your heat/aircon system to modern standard of your buildings, like those I’d say that’s good use of carbon tax money. But if dumped to some big oil RnD branch for green energy tech that we won’t see in another 10/20 years, cause they do not have any motivation to actually pull it. (since their balance sheet is neutral once they get the tax money back from one of their branch/subsidiary. ) I might be biased cause I lived in a old tower building, I really wish our building can start the window/etc remodeling but I only have 1 vote. (my winter base board heating is 200+ on coldest weeks, cause the entire building’s windows are over 25+ years old and already leaking and not up to par. )

I do wish there are more locally own/operated grocery stores or farmer’s markets. But they are usually located at the out skirts of the city and then you have to drive to get them. The web operated aren’t exactly benefiting those farmers nor consumers nor the carbon goals and more expensive/less choice. (because quantity and delivery vehicles etc. )

Yeah, I am talking in macro scale. The things as consumer can choose to avoid:

• change to non-carbon fuel vehicle or get rid of personal vehicle and choose public transport if available.
• do less things to increase carbon foot print. (like dial the thermo stat and put on more clothing in winter. )
• buy stuff from company that have goals toward carbon neutral.

But as consumer I can’t avoid:

• increased price of grocery/goods from manufacturing or shipping
• the way companies decide to approach their own cost cutting/offsetting.

The important part is, where the carbon tax go? Do they go into hands that actually have goals and plan/milestone to meet? Or they go into some paper green RnD subsidiaries of big oil?

misinformation aside, tax the industry simply increase their cost and they can still just offset to the consumers no? since consumer don’t have others down the chain to offset that cost. I know on the sheet you can’t list tax as cost, but if the tax come when you buy the fuel, then it becomes part of the cost for say, a truck fleet company. If you tax the oil/fuel companies for how much they produced/shipped, they will have to raise the cost to account for the lost of potential tax to make the balance sheet or projection look nicer. I can’t think of a way to tax carbon and those cost won’t trickle down. But tax at the source would make overall consumption reduced since the gov artificially drive up the cost of that resource.

In short, consumer would still foot the bill, but the goal to reduce carbon based fuel stays the same.

By the time I get to high school(basically 80386 era) that have a computer tech club where member bring their old computer parts to share, they are mostly no longer functional. I am not good in that hardware emu branch but my guess is that they pick something that can drive and matches original clock speed as the old programmable rom was no longer produced. (the antique people would buy old broken ones and rip parts off them or try to restore them.)

From look at the board, basically it looks like they did the “hardware” emu approach. But people I know that enjoy retro stuff they either want the look(original or replica case/keyboard, but internal is more modern that runs software emu) or they want the antique(functional original). It’s pretty rare to see these kinda of hardware emu where they bundle chips as close to old ones while trying to replicate how the old hardware work and then drive with another modern board for the input/output.

As long as they are still sending out flyers with stuff you buy you are okay. Also, if you already knew the price range of your regularly shopped goods, you know something is off. Superstore is already using digital tags. And you can just pull out your phone and take pictures.

Lastly, it should be put into law so you can’t increase price during the day. Going down is fine, but no going down and then going up again for peak hour. Stores can set whatever price they want to sell before opening. (for those non-regulated things)

If everything adapt the pc building modular approach we would be in a much better place, some of the replaceable components are already modular if you see the ifixit tear down, it’s just that the manufacturer spends more time trying to ruin your chance at properly open it without damage other parts. okay, so let me try explain a little bit why this is very likely not going to happen.

1. it’s a “public” transportation service that’s pay per use, first come first serve, there are different fee depending on time/distance/etc.
2. in order to “restrict access” say, use the commercial/residential parking lot as example, you carve out certain part of the capacity that only BC resident can use and BC tax payer have to foot the bill. The parking lot example, commercial side and residential side strata foot the bill for the maintenance and design which area/zone etc for the residential one and it’s gates/etc.

That means, if the people that won’t use the service has to pay and reserve for the people that do use the service that would be unfair thus usually, a “toll” would be put in place to cover the cost of transportation deficit. You might ask, what deficit? To have reserved space for resident to use ferry, they have risk of running the ferries with empty space reserved for resident use. Those would have to be “over reserved” for service guarantee. If they under reserve, then you simply have 2 choice, either queue with tourist or queue for the next for resident.

4. we have not even talk about the environment impact of reserving those spots just for residents instead of doing as much full ferry each time. That cost is footed by the whole BC as a province. (assuming we do have a carbon budget)

In the end, it’s all about running cost and tourism scheduling. Let me run a very simple situation. Say, a tourist group booked a trip to run a bus with everything scheduled properly. Now, if resident have priority queue, means the whole tourist bus’s schedule is NOT guaranteed. If the fluctuation of local traffic suddenly spike, the tourist group might face 2 hours+ delay. Which is simply not acceptable for a tourism company to run such risk, the tourism industry might simply opt for other first come first serve transportation service. Which would have a big impact to Vancouver Island. And if you remove tourism traffic from ferry, then you foot more cost per trip or face reduced scheduling.

The fact that for all 17+ years I lived in BC I only take the ferry round trip 3 times, and yet the tax is budgeted for subsidize it for more affordable traveling for the Van Island residents I think first come first serve is a fair compromise. Cause the people the visit Vancouver Island for tourism will most likely also visit other part of province, lower cost of transportation benefits everyone.

Exactly, without proper protection and equality for same performance/quality of work, it’s just pure exploitation.

okay, let me ask the real question:

• do they also get paid at the same standard(minimum wage, benefit, etc) like other worker?
• do they also get CPP/EI contribution from employer? And can they take EI benefit when laid off?
• do they also get to contribute to RRSP/TFSA? TFSA is after 18 currently, so they can’t even save their wage compare to other adult workers.
• when they do perform well, will they get evaluated and promoted the same way? ie, a 15 yo manager at fast food chain and paid the same wage as a manager.

I pride myself that I have never called or used any uber service. They can get fucked. also never book with airbnb, or whatever weird delivery service that expect their “worker” to get paid with tips only. I only order delivery when the restaurant have their own guy doing it.

if you mean the dive then just standing medium kick with proper spacing, if you are on emu you can snap shot the match or add more token and just practice anti air if it jump and dive from mid distance.

If you only play old games for story mode, the CPU read inputs so you are gonna have a bad time anyway if you don’t exploit their tendencies. Don’t spam fire ball cause I think by the 2nd or 3rd match you start to getting jumped on. In fact, if you know how to do anti air(couch heavy punch from Ken) with proper timing you can beat the run pretty easily except char with command grab.

Like for CPU don’t even try complex input, read on internet for most basic punish(like empty jump in and then throw against zoner) cause throw is really high damage & strong in SF2. If you push them to wall then you do the light punch fireball with some distance to bait them to jump over then do your punish.

well, I am not good but consider I can usually finish all the combo trainings 100% so my execution is quite okay. (I quit fighting game cause the button tapping is quite noisy, so no more fighting game after my son was born. )

• street fighter have a couple arch type, ryu/ken is shoto and they have actually different play style even though their basics looks similar.
• for any fighting game the distance that your opponent’s attack can reach is very important. a good player can simply whiff punish you and throw jabbing you because you don’t understand the +/- etc after a blocked/whiffed attack.
• hit confirm is also important, which means a simple combo that you can start when you have advantage, but not too “negative” when it’s blocked. (training mode can show these info) Where the first 2~3 hit of your combo is safe and once you get better and landing those 2~3 hit combo, pick something that allows you to cancel into special moves, knock down or throw(which is also a down). All the more fancy complex combo is not really useful if you can’t even land a 2~3 hit combo on opponent.
• punishing specific match up’s bad move, ie. a fireball at wrong distance allows opponent to jump in and lands full combo out of it. you have to do training mode a lot and study your match up.
• and finally, study the neutral game, where both side starts from distance that all normal attacks are out of range, what can you do from that point of space and what opponent’s char can do from their space. If you keep getting beat by opponent’s certain move, rewatch the replay, check their input, record that input to a training dummy, and find what you can do as counter.

It’s a huge time sink and there are also cheaters(on pc specifically), so good luck.
