Yeah that’s insane. Canada Post isn’t supposed to make money.

Yeah the developers are themselves just workers that don’t profit no matter how well the game sells. Some might incidentally hold some shares in the company they work for but it’s not big money. They aren’t the board and they aren’t the primary shareholders.
People like being known for having a hand in the Big Game of the Decade. People who worked on Skyrim have that as part of their resume and can point at it and gloat about this crazy thing that is beloved by many.
Conversely an attack on a game they had a hand in developing feels like an attack on their own capabilities — whether or not that has anything to do with it directly.
This happens in the military far too often.
Kind of hoping Russia gets what they want and the US Balkanizes. It wouldn’t make the world a safer place but it would make me feel a little better temporarily. Then we can all finally stop talking about it and move on to the next topic.
It’s not a supply issue — there’s enough empty homes in Canada right now to house every single person in this country.
No one made mention of anything being ‘invented’ anywhere until you, just now. I think I’d like to quote from one of history’s true greatest food scholars when I say, “What is even going on in this thread?”
I’m outta here.
I think after a cuisine or manner of cooking has been used in a region for almost a thousand years we are free to say it is authentic to that region, even though it was introduced. That you would deny Indians that, while accepting that Thai cuisine only started using chilli peppers in the last 300 years, opens a broader discussion about your personal understanding of culture and ethnicity.
Further, a Big Mac is a product made by a single corporation, lmao. I’m not going to justify that with further argument. But to use your Naitive American angle; a big part of NA cuisine is a bread called ‘bannock’. It can be savoury or sweet, and every tribe cooks it a little different from every other tribe. It is an important part of Indegenous cooking… and it’s an introduced food. The word bannock isn’t even from any native word. It came about from Scottish settlers/workers surviving on meagre company rations of flour and oil in isolated regions where they had no idea how to get food from the land. First Nations were introduced to it then found themselves in a similar situation as they were pushed off their land and given flour rations by the government so they wouldn’t all die. This all happened so recently my grandparents knew people affected by this.
It’s integral to their culture, even, and anyone who would deny bannock isn’t naitive would rightly be called an idiot by any indigenous person I know. Even though it’s an introduced food. That’s how culture, and food, work.
This is a Canadian media source reporting on Canada. Do you have anything to add other than “other people do it so we should too”?
Me:
You: “dumb cons lmao”
The NDP is not for the working class. In 2016 they removed all mentions of the word “socialism” from their party constitution. They saw an opening to go for the throat of the liberals so they can replace them. That’s what they desire. There isn’t an ounce of working-class spirit in the whole party. Most of their members are rent-seeking landlords (they have slightly fewer than the libs or cons) that desire personal profit over fixing Canada for the working class. Fuck the NDP (in its current iteration).
All three of our major political parties are neo-libs. There is no “both sides” because only one side is represented in politics in this country.
I shed no tears for the CBC. A single media outlet controlled by whatever political party is currently in power being sold off isn’t anything to cry about. Instead of 99% of our news outlets being corporate-owned, 100% will be. The CBC exists to make money, and has been that way since they started displaying ads next to content already paid for by the Canadian taxpayer.
Pollievre isn’t trump and he isn’t even the trumpiest politician we’ve had. The conservatives in power will be just as destructive for Canadians as the Libs, as all 3 of our major federal parties are pretty much the same thing. They’re all bought and paid for. We need a true party for the working class in this country.
I’ll end with this: Fuck Trudeau, put him in jail.
“Tankie” is a term that’s applied to literally any communist. I’ve heard it used against Trotskyists and fucking social democrats.
So, what’s actually the problem with them? Are they Maoists? CPC apologists?
The Beaverton is a Canadian satire news site.
It’s satire.
I’m in the navy. “Afloat” means “goes to sea”, generally. A museum ship might literally be floating in water, but it can’t go to sea.
Politicians have no interest in fixing this because politicians are landlords. Yes, even the NDP. It will never be fixed within our current political system. We can either continue around and around in our current, useless, reformist approach… or we can de-commodify and then nationalize housing.
Join a communist cell near you!
Burn the whole fucking system to the ground. You failed, Canada.
I really really don’t think Apple needs to do much to stay relevant.
Fairy creek was pretty much the last of the old growth forests on Vancouver Island (other than a small amount of parkland). That shit is never coming back, not for 5-10 generations, possibly not for a thousand years. And that’s only if the land is left untouched to recover (which it will not be). I have personally seen the devastation of the island in rural areas. Along the highways the forest is left in tact, but just a couple metres away it is entirely clear cut. They hide it from us because people would start to care if they knew the truth.
The benefit? Large sums of money for a few wealthy individuals. The leader who saw this through retired and is working for the forestry industry now. And the wood from these precious trees? Turned into guitars and other embellishments. An utter waste of a non-renewable resource. They could have logged any second-growth forest for this.
Never forget that it was the BC NDPs that did this — the supposed leftist, environmentalist party. Reformist politicians and the entire parliamentary system needs to be shed. Voting for them has never worked and never will work.
Gain some class consciousness.
