IR blasters are very common on Chinese brand phones even today. It’s easily the feature I miss most from my Huawei.

Not just that, but they are actively hostile and hypocritical about it. Every 1-3 months they prevent RCS from working on rooted phones or phones running alternate ROMs. The fact that they spent so much time complaining that Apple wouldn’t comply with the “open” standard while limiting users’ options on their own platform is very frustrating.
God speed, lol.
FWIW I exclusively use PLA and don’t have experience with any other materials.
This is a glass bed on an Ender that I am doing this on. I haven’t had any issues with scratching the bed whatsoever. Mild steel is actually softer than glass so it might actually be harder to scratch than you might think. Your mileage may vary though.
When a print is really stuck, I use a puddy knife with a fine edge and a hammer to get them separated.
When not even my closest coworkers or boss could tell if I was working or screwing off because working on or doing research for my personal projects is indistinguishable from my work ones 😅
And as everyone knows, the key to accessibility is not having options or variations of any kind!
I just want the option to have my quick access icons be circular buttons and not this massive blob BS. I got pretty used to having like 20 (maybe a couple less) things that were all accessible from a single spot. It was nice.
What are you on about? Just because someone is in a minority doesn’t mean their preferences or desires are invalid. Infeasible maybe, but not invalid. There are all sorts of products made for people in a minority of some kind. I can’t imagine left handed versions of common right handed objects are an extremely lucrative market, but there are products that exist for those minorities.
Plus it’s not like minorities or majorities are ever static, things evolve and change over time. If no one ever voiced an opinion, how would anything ever change?
You can keep crying about people stating a preference, and I’ll be sure to keep reminding you they are as free say what they want as you are.

I have been eyeing that model for a while now, nice to have some additional confirmation about it. Thanks!
What is the model of spectrophotometer that you bought?
I lost RCS for most of yesterday on my rooted stock phone. After I realized what was going on I went into Magisk and saw that an update was available for Play Integrity Fix and that solved the issue. What I found most annoying wasn’t that it didn’t work, but that it broke in a way that seemed like it was working. Both myself and other people saw that we were connected/chatting via RCS and their messages sent just fine, but I didn’t receive them. Well, until I applied the update, then I got all of them.
I’m writing this comment on a Fairphone 5 right now and it doesn’t feel sluggish at all.
It doesn’t seem to me like the increased performance of phones has had much effect on the actual experience for a while if gaming or content creation is not done on the phone. As a daily driver I think this phone will last me a while.
There are still base features of BB10 that are not native on iOS or Android (I have the former for work and the latter for my personal). It probably sounds trivial, but I liked being able to have the phone automatically switch sound profiles bases on stuff in the calendar. Never had to remember to switch my phone to vibrate when going from the factory floor to a meeting.
Capital One has that capability built in. I have dedicated credit card numbers for just about every service I use.
Tons. A special firmware I use for my 3D printer is supported through Discord. All questions and new firmware links are posted there. Even with Slack being “searchable”, unless I am mistaken, it’s not indexed by search engines, right? So when trying to figure something out I would need to search for webpages and then also search Slack right?
I was specifically referring to the forum like sections. The lack of indexing and internet archive means large swaths of knowledge, timelines, history, and even culture will become dust in the wind.
I’m based in the US and that’s where I used my Huawei phone until recently. OnePlus is among the manufacturers that still do IR blasters, and it looks like the OnePlus 12 has one and is easily purchased from their US store page.
As far as I can tell Samsung hasn’t released a phone with an IR blaster since 2015 either. Essentially, IR and Samsung hasn’t been a thing for a long time. If we are going by total volume then I would agree that the most common manufacturer in the US that has/had IR is Samsung. If we are going by new phones available today, then Samsung isn’t even in the conversation.
I’m not entirely sure what this comment is in relation to yours, I don’t think I disagree with you, I think I’m just adding some context or nuance.
