Might be a use case there, as well as in aviation and medicine - fields that move exceptionally slowly and tend to have expensive equipment with long lifetimes.

Am I reading this correctly that the Court held first that the Crown had failed to uphold their obligations, and second that the solution was to return to negotiations with the referenced First Nations to sort out prior and future obligations?
If that high-level understanding is correct, I’d be quite surprised if this did not later have to be re-litigated. Prior bad faith negotiation/agreement do not set the stage for future good faith.
As an American, I’m curious - is this general sort of holding fairly standard, wherein there is an acknowledgement of wrongdoing, but it’s left to the parties to sort out how to fix it? We’d generally expect there to be an award of equity that alleges to resolve the wrongdoing financially, where feasible, stateside.

In the relatively recent past, a boss who I had software PMd for across numerous years had the unmitigated gall to ask me for a list of licenses for “all the software we used.”
I literally laughed in his face, explained open source and the rabbit hole such a question goes down, and he just couldn’t (wouldn’t) get it.
Unfortunately, the biz side of the house doesn’t like “yeah, it’s all legal, but fuck you if you think I’m documenting every piece of code in every library in a ten plus year old code base, allllllll the way down.”
Sell them to someone who will test and resell them to the airline or medical industry… Manufacturing is a likely customer as well, plenty of legacy equipment there that’s airgapped and still running decades-old hw/sw.
