I think you touched on how to make pay it forward work: make it as low effort as possible.

In this case, while you had lots of work, the people “paying it forward” had almost none. Thus the chain was able to go for as long as you were willing.

Wanted to see if I could do anything exciting with the new Satisfactory dedicated server API. There’s no documentation of it anywhere online, but there’s a random markdown file documenting it in the installation directory. Got it working but turns out it can’t do much. Oh well

I think that’s my main complaint with the game. Once you find a way to beat the boss, you just go for that build every time. It’s so punishing and the path to get there is so long, that it’s a massive disincentive to try new things.

For me I got so immersed in the world and character that it didn’t even occur to me to save scum. This RPG is so good that I actually felt like I was living the story. The only game that ever managed to accomplish that.

The competition bureau acts in good faith. They very much opposed the Rogers / Shaw merger. The problem is they don’t have any actual power beyond making recommendations.

And it worked just as they intended.

This is the best take I’ve seen on the whole kerfuffle so far.

A fractured government where things get done with more deliberation and compromise is a feature, not a bug.

This is a wholesome reply, so not saying this to shame or anything, just to inform. I don’t think it’s something many people realize.

But the statement “we’re all Canadians” is quite literally untrue. Many indigenous people do identify as Canadian and that’s great. But many others vehemently do not. What’s more is their right to self government is enshrined in the constitution, so they are actually sovereign nations living within Canada.

Maybe try travel? Bring your laptop / deck / switch so you can game on the road. But do it from some place new. If you can work from home, maybe try moving around on short term rentals. Doesn’t need to be anything exotic, could be the next town over.

Anything to break up your routine a bit. Don’t look at it as a means to an end. Try and enjoy the journey itself

I dunno, I suspect most human alt texts to be vague and non descriptive. I’m sure a human trying their hardest could out write an AI alt text… But I’d be pretty shocked if AI’s weren’t already better than the average alt text.

Same reason most non technical people using Linux today do so on the Steam Deck. If you want to spread Linux, trying to convince individuals is going about it all wrong.

You need to convince Canonical or Red Hat to spend more on partnerships with manufacturers. I’m not sure if anyone else has deep enough pockets.

Oh man, I love adaptive cruise control. I also don’t agree that using it in the left lane is bad. If there’s a line of cars going too slowly, the person in front is the asshole, not the three using ACC behind them. You really shouldn’t pass on the right anyway, would definitely not call doing that driving safer.

Eh, that would kill the steam deck though and then developers wouldn’t be testing their games out with it nearly as much. Sure proton would still exist in some capacity but it would be way shittier.
