'Nam flashback to the Gif/Jif pronouciation wars.
Currently in college. They are agnostic as it’s all turned in on PDF files, quizzes on browser, etc but my online classes require I install some root kit program to make sure I’m not cheating and it detects if it’s on a VM. I talked to IT and they let me borrow a laptop with windows. Slow as hell, but I only need it for the online tests so 4 times a semester.
I got a wool blanket. I’m sure there’s away to fold/drape into a cloak.
Just looked into it. just need a pin!
The prices are high over here as well, when the interest rate drops again I’ll look into taking a HELOC or refinance. I’m trying to put as much money into the principal as I can in the mean time.
Mine too! There’s slight water damage to the bottom kitchen cabinets and wooden floors, that we can for too fix, as water slowly leaked down the walls, but at least we got new roof, windows and doors.
There are a lot more jobs in the medical profession than doctor or nurse. It’s indoors so climate controlled. There’s 2 yr programs that start out around 60k a year.
Helped change a water heater at my parents place. Got quoted 1k in labor. Took us a little less than 2 hrs of actual work to do it. Had to buy new flexible connectors and Teflon tape. Possible fire or water damage is no joke so i understand the hesitation to DIY, but the work is pretty straight forward.
Trades are absolutely a viable option. There will always be a need.
Great grandpa was a woodworker, there’s been at least one in every generation, and some how got a hold of a late 1800s or early 1900s Stanley No.1 plane. I think it sells for around 2k to 2500. Its got wear, but it still works just fine.
I rarely use it, but it’s something that’s been in the family for over 100 years. I do a little woodworking, mostly utilitarian stuff like boxes and shelves, but I’ll never sell it. 3 generations of people used it to make a living.
Also, natural language can be vague and confusing. Look at legalese and law statutes. “When it comes to the law, NOTHING is understood!” ‐- Dragline
I read somewhere they have trouble hiring hackers because they ask if they’ve ever done drugs including weed and it’s an automatic deal breaker for the old farts running the hiring process. Also the pay is shit compared to what they can make in the private sector. I guess leaning on patriotism isn’t working anymore.
Want to change the oil? Good luck! the filter is behind the engine and right next to the exhaust cause fuck you. At this point I’ll look at getting a roller and doing an EV swap.
In the 2000s: this new lithium ion tech stuff sounds great, but it takes forever to charge, costs too much, and doesn’t charge fast meaning we need to buy another battery to charge.
My phone today charges from 10% to 85% in like 40 minutes and gives me about 8 to 10 hrs of use. In that time I’m sure I’ll be near an outlet to recharge.
They said the same thing about solar panels, the electric car, cell phones. Hell, the president of IBM said the world only needed 5 computers. Discoveries don’t mean an immediate push to the public.
Actually, discovery to implementation to market goes really damn fast now. Engineers used slide rulers, paper and pencil, and clay models to design back in the day. It would cost millions of dollars and 10 years. My cousin 3D prints stuff to see if it will work, then CNC if he needs durability. He doesn’t have a degree, he just likes to tinker. Imagine what manufacturing will be like in 10 to 20 years.
You would think all those generations would have bred the suicidal tendencies out of toddlers. Instead we got easily fooled eyes and hackable dopamine drip.
Nothing makes me learn as quickly and thoroughly as sheer panic and hoping someone was a stupid as me and there’s an answer already posted somewhere.
Wtf! I’ve had my 1080p 55 inch dumb as a rock tv for over 7 year, i liberated it from my brother so its older, and was gonna start looking for when finally starts to go. I guess ima need to find someone that knows how to fix it.
I thought VPs already didn’t really do anything, but being on the board and meeting 2 or 3 times a year is definitely less.
Then 6 months later gets a VP job somewhere else because he “has experience” all the while eyeing another run at CEO.
I woke up to pee at 2am 2 days ago and my body decided that is the new wake up time ever since. Literally was up for 4 minutes and went back to sleep. Now it’s like Patrick, OH BOY 2am!
That’s a sweet gig, if you can get it. I heard you have to now show you can grow but choose not to.
I swear some poor bastard has to explain shit to this moron and has to dumb it down. I’m sure they used a metaphor to simplify and all that stuck was B.C. is like a faucet, it flows south. He then gets in front of the camera and confidently spews the mangled idea like a game of telephone.
