I switched a year or so ago and never looked back. there will be issues you need to overcome though. so better start with dualboot before windows 10 is eol

KDE plasma is one of the main reasons the linux desktop is so extremely good for me.
if you think so too, please consider donating to the project
fairphone Support is really helpful. try it even without warranty if the screw thing doesnt work
for this reason I waited for the Fairphone 5 which is responsive, has an oled display and the components Work without issue. have had it for a year and am looking forward to still using it in 6 years from now
another advantage of the glorious fairphone
KDE with version 6 is where it’s at. at least for me. youncan use the default or put hours into customizing. gnome is nice, too but bothers me because i want to minimize, maximize and control things like the volume without barriers. but that is personal preference. choose what you Like. if you arent happy or just curious you can always Switch
well thats unfortunate. Personally I’d rather click away one message per year while knowing I donate 40 euros every quarter than having the project die or degrade in the long run.
I think if you complain, you should contribute(either through effort or donation) to make such pop ups unnesseccary.
KDE Plasma albeit a bit bloated in default state is freaking amazing and getting better with every update.
Enjoy whatever DE you Like and complain as you like but just complaining is not going to fix Problems
games done quick is on
kde connect is my recommendation also
that is of course an option. not my cup of tea though. if I need to do things like that to play some games, I’d rather not play them at all and put my time into games from devs which don’t actively sabotage linux compatibility. That doesn’t mean I don’t miss playing for example pubg or valorant
almost every day for a year. my gaming pc often collects dust
I switched from ububtu to fedora kde about a year ago. really solid for gaming and the differences are not that big.
for work I also use debian and it is really cool to be able to understaand deb and “enterprise linux”(fedora/suse) differences
thanks, i know. switching to cinnamon was on purpose though because I always find it exciting to try something new for a while
mint is nice but fedora KDE runs also pretty well on my thinkpad x1 yoga gen3
I am very happy with fedora KDE, although I have weird flickering issues since fedora40/plasma 6 and so i temporarily switched to cinnamon (which was really easy) untiljthe nvidia 555 driver releases. I can really recommend this combination
And „normal“ would mean a total invasion of privacy and accepting games installing malware? Bowing your head and install bootloader destroying windows on an otherwise fine machine instead of owning your system? Then I’d recommend not playing those games
uh nice. now perhaps i’ll switch to nobara coming from stock fedora kde
fairphone 5 is out :-) it is getting upgrades until the 2030s. and it is so easily repairable that it is realistic to use it for a long time
I’m at the moment quite sick of competetive multiplayergames in general. If you have to resort to malware to thwart cheating in a cost effective way maybe the very Concept of anonymous(as in playing with randoms instead in small communitys on moderated servers) multiplayer itself is flawed
