seems similar to the set up for systemd snippets, where you can avoid changing default config files for systemd units and instead use a drop in file in that created .d dir to load and overwrite the defaults on boot for whatever specific thing. don’t know anything that uses this for bashrc, tho. most likely harmless, especially if there’s no created bashrc.d yet.

sounds like maaaaybe too little ram and no swap? what is your ram size and do you have any swap or zram enabled? i kinda doubt it because multiple distros should have a swap space or zram on by default on a fresh install but maybe not or you explicitly chose not to and it’s running out of memory.

nvidia only very recently opened up their drivers to open source dev, so the open source drivers available right now are still based on reverse engineering and they don’t work super great. there are proprietary drivers from nvidia but they are not easy to install and configure and popos handles that for you on install.
sounds like your problem is likely a combo of trying bare arch and also an nvidia card. i’d recommend Pop!OS as i hear it’s the best out of the box experience for nvidia owners, and if you want to stay arch based i’d try EndeavourOS as it’s arguably the most mature and stable arch based distro today, it’s what i use but i also have amd not nvidia so i can’t speak for the nvidia experience for endeavour. maybe you want to wait a while before you try again just so you’re not burning out on the frustration, too. good luck!

further, heroic games launcher isn’t just for epic and gog games, you can install any exe. i use it for the ea games launcher because the lutris script was broken at the time. and in the wine manager in hgl settings you can choose either wine-ge latest or proton-ge latest (or whatever number version) as your default layer, which you can also change per game/app if you have trouble.
edit: and also you can set it to add to steam so you can still just use steam as your main launcher, for example on steam deck or using a media center rig in big picture mode.
i just have it set to always on. there’s no reason you need the bluer light in the day and you get used to it. less eye strain is less eye strain.
everyone else has great responses but i want to address the snappiness of kde. it’s fairly common advice to disable file indexing, you can find it in the settings app. it can cause some desktop sluggishness and really isn’t necessary.
the difference between the lockdowns where there was understandably a drastic drop in crime to after lockdowns were lifted does not a trend make; it’s an externality, and the only rise i referenced. comparing pre lockdown to post lockdown there is a clear continued drop in crime overall. i referenced this lockdown ‘rise’ particularly because it’s what media and fascists have used to pursue greater police budgets and stricter laws and campaigning, and it is misleading at best to parrot their fear mongering over ‘rising crime’ especially without any data to back it up.

linux typically won’t hard freeze on errors like that no matter the distro. it can, but rarely. being an all amd build i suspect there’s some cpu bios feature auto scaling core clock or voltage and in my experience ryzen cpus need to have a manually set stable clock and voltage to perform properly no matter the os. try checking your bios and disabling any powersaving or auto-scaling features for your cpu and manually set it for stock clock and voltage. you may need to look up what these values are as the bios might not have a default value for you. this might not be your issue but it’s worth trying. good luck!
