Sadly doesn’t appear to be usable for SMS by Google Fi users who have web sync enabled. Guess I’ll be holding off.
Yeah, sadly a good color e-ink screens seems like one of those techs that is always a couple years away. It seems like maybe the demand just isn’t there for R&D with everyone having large form factor phones these days.
This was my fear, thanks. When I saw what they were doing with it I was like come on, who needs to take notes in color.
I really REALLY love my Kobo Libre 2, it’s a fantastic reader. I would like to move the Color version, but they didn’t actually show anything like a graphic novel, guess I’ll be waiting for reviews, not sure why they wouldn’t show the most common use for one of these unless maybe it’s not great at it.
I would guess probably not soon. Windows still needs to be able to comply with many industries needs for compliance (ITAR, HIPAA, Financial, etc etc.) If they remove the ability to control this, they cut themselves out of their largest profit area (corporate licensing).
So many headline readers. To be honest, 99% of these problems that folks rage about could be resolved with a group policy (local or domain). The problem is, Windows is like 73% of worldwide OS usage, so like it or not, there is a lot of trying to protect the user from themselves. Team Linux can’t fathom that because they come from the perspective that they can build thier experience from the ground up to be exactly as they like. The VAST majority of people don’t want that, they want something that works and they don’t really care what happens behind the curtains. I would wager that 90% of users could care less what browser they use (or would even notice if it changed!) as long as they still had access to their bookmarks.
I would like to share a positive experience from this new driver the article is about. I use notepad++ and setting it as the default was kind of a pain in the butt. It would work sometimes, but not consistently, and often depended on a registry hack or symlink to work. Now with the new interface for default apps, as long as I have the new Windows Notepad app installed when I change the defaults for “open with”, it just works! For all the file extensions, all the time. Honestly it’s a much better experience and it’s ACCESSIBLE to the lay person.
Set it via group policy (local or domain) and forget about it.
Watch out son, don’t you know your in Linux land (Lemmy)? You’re likely to get shot for them thar words. /s
Self hosted searxng is where it’s at. Seriously love it and have replaced my search engines on all my computers and phone.
I use this along with Vivaldi browser that will let me switch engines quickly with “search shortcuts” for those few times I need local Google results.
Pandoc wad gonna be my recommendation for anything document based, but like ImageMagick, it’s command line, that sent me looking. Looks like https://panwriter.com/ is a good front end for it, probably gonna give it a try myself.
For documents, nothing quite like pandoc, I would be surprised if it’s not what most of those sketchy websites use on the backend anyway.
Not OP, looks like it could be this:
Slug Night Light,Silicone lamp for Kids USB Rechargeable Cute Animal Lamps Timer Setting safe Bedside Lamp Portable LED Lamps for Breastfeeding Dorm Room Decor for Christmas Gift Baby Kids Girls Teens https://a.co/d/4xEcu6A
The midi file doesn’t play automatically, but I see that’s a thing your working on.
Also need gifs of Bart Simpson saying “Don’t have a cow man”
Vista was FULL of security issues though. I did PC support in that era and I kept going to one house in particular because they would pick up some crazy virus / Spyware from thier kid visiting sketchy porn sites. Didn’t matter what I did or how I locked it down, or what AV I installed he would manage to get it reinfected. After the 8th time or so I just made them buy a XP license and told them they need to have a hard talk with thier kid about all the sites he was visiting. Once I had XP installed and appropriate AV, it stopped being an issue.
Edit: Whoops, nevermind it was Windows ME. Carry on with your Vista love (though I’m still not sure why you loved it)
Salt and Pepper grinder from a well recommended brand. Was like 80 bucks for the set and it’s not better than the ones I get from Sam’s Club. Infact it’s worse. Disappointing.
I can buy it in Iowa. It’s good stuff.
They misspelled VPN
I mean they make the chips in PS5 and xbox too.
Deleted comment: “Tech people already get well into the six figures starting out of college… if anything, they fucked everything up for the rest of us, then ducked out to live in a cottage in Montana somewhere during COVID. Honestly I’m tired of hearing of their “struggles”.”
Hahahahahahahahaha. When I started with IBM in 2010 (NOT fresh out of college, about 5 years experience) I made less than 40k with them.
Not a recommendation per se, but if you like to ugly cry watch “Dear Evan Hanson”
