They were a donation platform for community projects and open-source projects. Their main thing was that all donations and expenses by an entity are public, so there’s a lot of transparency with who and where the money goes that you donate. Really sad to lose them

Yes, good services do tend to cost money. Been worth every penny in my experience
Just wanted to mention it in case others wanted the same experience as the official app. Sideloadly and AltStore both auto-renew over WiFi, so other than the slightly involved setup it’s just like any other app. I agree with you though, GrapheneOS/Android or the other options your listed are far better in terms of privacy and security
Also for iOS is uYou+, installed with Sideloadly. Might not be as privacy-friendly as other options though
